Partner UM Launches Healthy Lifestyle Workshops for Primary School Children – topic Hydration

The University of Maribor (UM), a partner in the EU‑funded projects BIO‑STREAMS and MEDVIEW, is organizing a series of workshops aimed at empowering primary school children with practical knowledge for a healthier lifestyle. Through interactive, age‑appropriate activities, children explore key aspects of well‑being, including nutrition, hydration, physical activity, healthy eating habits, and family‑centric lifestyle choices. These workshops form part of BIO‑STREAMS’ mission to support prevention and healthy‑living interventions, helping young people engage with obesity‑prevention strategies and adopt healthier habits early in life. The workshop series that run from middle of March to the end of April will be dedicated to the theme “Hydration”.

While rooted in BIO‑STREAMS’ evidence‑based framework for tackling childhood obesity, the workshops also connect naturally with MEDVIEW’s broader focus on knowledge valorisation, community participation, and human‑centric well‑being innovation. MedView emphasizes involving citizens—including children and educators—in shaping health-promoting practices, ensuring solutions arise from real‑world needs and experiences.

Together, these two EU initiatives reinforce the idea that everyday learning environments, such as schools, play a crucial role in turning scientific knowledge into meaningful change. By bringing research‑supported health principles directly into classrooms, UM is helping build a healthier future generation while supporting the long‑term goals of both BIO‑STREAMS and MEDVIEW.
